Lottery Trust supports Poetry Society

The Manx Lottery Trust (MLT) has awarded £315 in funding to the Isle of Man Poetry Society.

This funding will go towards the Isle of Man Poetry Trail, a project aimed at promoting a love for poetry and encouraging people to engage with this expressive art form.

The Poetry Trail project involves a competition open to individuals over the age of 18, where participants are invited to submit their original poems.

A panel of judges carefully selects the most compelling pieces, which are then transformed into stunning A3 poster artworks by local artist Tony Garland.

These artistic creations are displayed in various locations across the Isle of Man, including shop windows, library walls, cafes, and hairdressers, forming an engaging trail for the public to explore.

Speaking about the funding, Bethany De Legh-Runciman from the Isle of Man Poetry Society said: “The poetry trail always receives great interest, and we’re delighted to be able to run it again with thanks to the support from the Manx Lottery Trust.

“Providing a platform for new poets to showcase their work is of immense importance, and this exciting and pressure-free initiative allows emerging talents to step onto the scene.”
