The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) is to undertake carriageway repairs on a section of School Road between the Main Road and 1st Avenue.
The works will start on Monday, February 19 and be completed no later than Friday, February 23.
These works have been deliberately scheduled to coincide with half term so as not to conflict with schools traffic.
The work will focus on repairing a failed utilities trench reinstatement in the carriageway.
Carriageway repairs
In order to facilitate works a temporary order will be in place prohibiting on- street car parking between Main Road and 1st Avenue while works are underway.
The order also allows the DOI to close the road to through traffic as required.
It will be necessary to activate this part of the order for one or two days during the week in order to repair the carriageway in the vicinity of the build outs just below Onchan School.
Which days, and for how long the closures will be necessary is somewhat weather dependant and will be indicated by appropriate signage on the day(s) in question.
Access
Residential access to the lower section of the road (up to, but excluding Onchan Hub) will be available from Main Road at all times.
During periods that the road is closed to through traffic, access to the Hub, and all roads off School Road above this, will be via Ballachrink Avenue or little Mill Road only.
While it is anticipated that closures will only be necessary during normal working hours, they may have to be expanded if operationally necessary.
Even when School Road is not closed to through traffic, to avoid delays it is requested that those who are travelling to and from the upper section of School Road use the main diversion route via Ballachrink Drive.
Pedestrian access will not be affected and residents inside the area of the closure will be notified by letter ahead of works starting.
