A man who stole 10 cans of lager from a supermarket will be sentenced in September.
Phillip Baillie, 40, from Douglas, took the cans of San Miguel from Winerite on February 13.
The court heard that Baillie had been in the store when he put a bag for life in front of the fridge where the beer was and placed 10 cans inside of it.
He then proceeded to go to the till to pay for a loaf of bread, but made no attempt to pay for the beer.
When he next visited the store, he was told to leave due to a ban, when he later rang to ask about this he said he didn’t remember being the store on February 13 but made attempts to prevent the matter being raised with the police.
After the manager of the store rang the police, he attended a voluntary interview in which he gave no comment answers.
Magistrates adjourned sentencing to allow for a social enquiry report to be produced by the probation team.
Baillie was bailed until his next appearance.
