If you haven’t heard that we are going to get a pounding from Storm Darragh this weekend, what rock have you been hiding under?
All I have to say to Darragh is get stuffed, go forth and multiply.
Darragh has come in two parts, last night he decided test out the DoI’s flood map and see how factually correct it is.
But today, he has decided to test your Dad’s greenhouse building abilities and my patience.
Storm Darragh
An amber weather warning was issued earlier in the week in preparation for Big D, so if you decided to leave your bins not tied down – its your own fault.
It will start very windy to today (December 7) with severe gale to storm force north to northwest winds with gusts of 60-70mph widely, but with 80mph possible in the west and southwest of the island.
This will likely cause travel disruption and some structural damage, as well as risk of fallen branches or trees and some coastal overtopping around high tide in the west (3pm).
However the rain will clear to showers later in the morning, which will die away to leave a dry and bright end to the day, although still very windy with the gale to severe gale force winds only slowly easing overnight into Sunday.
Maximum temperature around 9°C but feeling cold in the wind.

Let’s take a break from the storm talk, and go back into the metaphorical storm of Mercury Retrograde.
Lads, we only have eight days left of the s**t show of this mercury retrograde.
Is everything going wrong and you’ve got the biggest brain fog of all time? It’s ok. It isn’t your fault, it’s Mercury’s.
During this Mercury retrograde, patience (lol see above) and flexibility are your best friends.
Embrace the delays as opportunities (don’t shout at the Steam Packet!!) to review and reassess — sometimes what feels like a setback is really a chance to refine your approach.
Double-check travel plans, be clear in your communications, and avoid making major decisions (aka don’t make permanent decisions on temporary emotions) until after Mercury Retrograde ends on December 15.
If you’re like “no no I’ve felt this a few weeks before mercury started acting all crazy”, it is worth noting that the shadow period actually started on November 7.
Plus we had a full moon on November 15 – there is a reason we call certain people ‘lunatics’ – we also have another one incoming on December 15, but lets worry about that when we get to it, hey?
Back to the Weather
Right so we’ve got Storm Darragh out the way, surviving (just about) Mercury Retrograde, so what’s in store in the next coming days.
I bring you good news – see there is light at the end of the tunnel! There always is, sometimes its just hard to see it when you are knee deep in mud and crying in the rain with wind battering your face.
It will be mostly dry and bright with sunny spells tomorrow, as the strong to gale force northerly wind gradually decreases fresh to strong during the day. Maximum temperature around 8°C.
Monday will be dry with bright or sunny spells!!! Thank you universe, God, Karen or whoever you decide to thank!
The wind will be decreasing to a N or NE 20-25, 15-20 veering E or NE 10-15 later.
Tuesday also looks a marvellously lovely December’s day as it’ll be fine and dry with spells of sunshine.
The wind will have dropped right off to a E or NE 10-15, veering E or SE 05-10 later.
