Rushen United secured a 2-1 win over Marown to move six points clear of the Cananda Life Premier League relegation zone this weekend.
In what are the final games before Christmas, the Railway Cup semi finals saw a reduced fixture list across the top flight.
Marown took the lead at Croit Lowey after a rare error from keeper Mark Blair gifted Conor Gilbert the chance to open the scoring in just the second minute, which he took.
The Spaniards were level almost immediately as Jack Saxon equalised from a corner in the fourth minute.
After the game settled down, Rushen talisman Aaron Hawley scored the winner in the 34th minute to move the Port Erin side clear of the sides below them.
For Marown, with just one win so far this season, they will be hoping for something special under the tree from Santa as they go into the festive period bottom and dreaming of a great escape.
With Foxdale’s Billy Goat Park still suffering from the recent heavy rain, the only other top flight game saw a Union Mills and Ramsey clash at the always windy Garey Mooar.
Two goals each from Dylan Pickles and Tom Chatel, plus one from Greg Hepburn were enough for the northerners to win 3-5 in the mid table clash.
The Only Way is Up
In Ardern & Druggan Div 2 three games were played as Braddan went top, sweeping aside Douglas Royal 4- and Michael United’s recent misfortune continued as they were turned over 0-9 by Pulrose.
However, the result of the day saw Douglas & District come back from 3-2 down at the break to draw 4-4 with Castletown.
