Dyslexia Committee to Hear Evidence

The select committee on Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia and Dysgraphia will hear its first oral evidence this morning,

Chaired by Rob Callister, the committee was created after a Tynwald Day petition from Julia Bell.

Ms Bell is the first person to give evidence to the committee alongside other members of the Dyslexia Advocacy Group, Annabel Storm, Renee Caley, and Peter Washington.

That hearing gets underway at 10:30am in the LegCo chamber and can be listened to on the Tynwald website.

The Select Committee will:

  • examine the incidence of dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia in the Isle of Man and the provision for assisting said population groups in education;
  • consider whether this is in line with the Equality Act (2017); and
  • review the possible solutions documented in the Petition for Redress.
