Graeme Hatcher has finished 6th in the men’s/open race at the Montane Winter Spine Challenger North.
The Spine is a gruelling 160 mile race along the Pennine Way from Hardraw to Kirk Yetholm.
Having previously completed the spine sprint in 2022, he tackled this year’s challenger north through freezing temperatures and at times pitch black loneliness in 62 hours six minutes and 20 seconds.
Organsisers said: “When asked before the race what would keep him motivated during the race he told us that he sadly lost his dog a few weeks and was running this race for his missing running partner.
“That negative experience has been successfully channeled into a positive experience and a fitting tribute. Congratulations.”
