Malew Commissioners unanimously agreed that its rates will be frozen for the next year.
It said its rate will remain at 199p in the pound “after careful consideration of the current and projected finances”.
The authority, which collects commercial rates from the airport and Balthan Industrial estate, said the new housing and commercial developments has assisted in offsetting increased costs.
It said: “However, these new developments still require to be serviced and we will be able do so with our current provision in conjunction with outsourced contractors.
“The Commissioners continue to make enhancements throughout the parish as can be highlighted over the past year such as the upgrading and improvements to street lighting in the older estates within Ballasalla, more planned maintenance of the open spaces, and the upgrading of the access lane to Monks bridge from Rushen Abbey.”
Malew added that working with Port Erin on schemes such as buying a new bin wagon has helped to balance costs across both authorities.
The authority added: “Over the forthcoming year, the Commissioners expect to build on the improvements already made to the public open spaces.
“This is an ongoing program and striking the right balance can be challenging, but a number of areas for improvement have been identified and will be advanced.”
