Bus Vannin has revealed the answer to one of the more bizarre Manx mysteries in recent times.
When you buy a bus ticket using your card, you get a 10p charge which some assumed was like a holding charge that the company puts on your account.
However, Bus Vannin says this isn’t the case, rather it is something that Mastercard does.
It said: “It’s a test transaction that company performs just to make sure that the card isn’t reported lost or stolen.
“But it only ever appears as a pending authorisation, once it is complete the correct amount is charged, and the £0.10 disappears.”
