Two Vehicles Involved in ‘Head-on’ Mountain RTC

Two vehicles were involved in a head on collision that closed the Mountain Road for the majority of this afternoon.

At 1:35pm today fire crews from Douglas and Ramsey attended a road traffic collision on the Mountain Road near to Kates Cottage.

On arrival the fire crews were faced with two vehicles that had collided head on.

The Incident Commander quickly dispatched the crew to stabilise the vehicles and extricate the casualties using cutting equipment.

Once the casualties had been extricated they were transferred to the Ambulance Service who treated their injuries.

Fire crews were required to make the vehicles safe prior to leaving the scene and were in attendance for approximately 1 hour 30 mins.

Three fire Appliances, a Duty Officer, Brigade Officer, Police and Ambulance were all in attendance.

Station Officer David Dallimore said: “There was heavy fog on the mountain today and we ask drivers to please take care when driving and drive to the conditions.”
