George Holden, son of two-time TT winner John Holden, will make his sidecar racing debut at this year’s TT, partnering with experienced passenger Mark Wilkes.
The duo will compete in the two 3wheeling.Media Sidecar TT races aboard the Barnes Racing DMR Yamaha outfit, built by 17-time TT winner Dave Molyneux.
With his father John—a 22-time podium finisher—now retired, the 32-year-old Clitheroe driver is ready to tackle the Mountain Course after honing his skills in the British Championship. Holden and Wilkes, who replaces Tim Reeves’ usual passenger, bring a mix of youth and experience to the event.
Holden first competed in the British Championship in 2021 with Oscar Lawrence, finishing 13th before climbing to fourth in 2022 with seven podiums.
Dream into reality
George Holden said: “With Dad racing for so long, I’ve obviously grown up with the TT, so competing has been on my mind for a long time. Now the time’s right to turn that dream into a reality. I’ve been building my experience up on the short circuits, but it was only in 2023 when everything started to come together for my TT debut.”
“I know the course, but racing around the Mountain is a whole different ball game. I’ve been watching onboard laps and visiting the island as much as possible.

“When Mark became available, we got everything arranged quickly. Having a passenger of his calibre is a huge benefit. I’m not setting lap time targets—I just want to enjoy it, learn, and build each night.”
The 2025 TT will also see debuts from Lewis Blackstock and Oscar Lawrence, adding fresh talent to the legendary event.
