Culture Vannin is supporting bringing ‘A New History of the Isle of Man, Volume IV, Parts I & II’ to print.
The publication will be the first comprehensive modern account of the island’s history between 1405 and 1830.
Edited by Tim Thornton, Harold Mytum, and Michael Hoy and published by Boydell and Brewer, this two-part volume offers an unparalleled exploration of a formative period in the Isle of Man’s past.
It traces both its political and constitutional development as well as its social and economic life.
Landmark Publication
The research underpinning these volumes was undertaken by the Centre for Manx Studies and a wide network of academics and researchers, with support from the government, Manx National Heritage, and Culture Vannin.
In 2024 the charity provided a grant to enable both volumes to be made available on the Isle of Man at a greatly reduced price.
Culture Vannin’s support ensures that this significant work is accessible to as wide an audience as possible, reflecting a commitment to promoting and celebrating Manx culture and heritage.
