The iconic L’Experience Restaurant will close its doors for the final time in October.
Saturday October 25 will mark the end of a 44-year chapter in the island’s dining scene.
In a statement, owners Belinda and Michael Murphy announced the closure, citing immense industry pressures.
“Rising costs across every area have made it increasingly difficult to maintain the level of quality and enjoyment that both our staff and customers deserve,” they said.
“Despite our best efforts, these challenges have become insurmountable.”
La Table
The Regency Hotel has simultaneously announced that from October 26, its new kitchen will be led by L’Experience’s long-standing Head Chef and co-owner, Michael.
Much of the L’Experience team will join him at the hotel’s new restaurant, to be called La Table, pending licence approval.
Tim Baggaley, General Manager of the Regency Hotel, said: “The team at L’Experience have been a cornerstone of the island’s dining scene for over 40 years.
“Guests can look forward to the same outstanding food and service they’ve always enjoyed in the characterful surroundings of our hotel.”
Gratitude
Belinda and Michael expressed deep gratitude to their patrons and team.
“You have been the very heart of L’Experience,” they said, adding, “We extend our heartfelt thanks to every member of staff, past and present, for their dedication, professionalism, and warmth.”
L’Experience gift vouchers will remain valid until the closure date.
The owners invite the community to join them for a final send-off over the next two months.
