A group of trainee police officers are raising money for the RNLI by kayaking around Ramsey’s Mooragh Park lake.
They will kayak 40 miles around the lake on Saturday November 1 (makes me cold just thinking about it).
Starting at 8am, there will be two of the trainees on the water at any one time, rotating until we’ve reached their target distance.
The group chose 40 miles because the island’s lifeboat volunteers responded to 40 shouts in 2024.

The group said: “The RNLI has been saving lives for over 200 years, powered entirely by volunteers and public donations.
“The Isle of Man holds a special place in the charity’s history – its founder, Sir William Hillary, was a Manx resident – and today the island is home to five lifeboat stations, providing a vital part of the UK and Ireland’s 24-hour search and rescue network.
“Every mile we kayak is in recognition of the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of the RNLI crews who head out into the unknown whenever the call comes.”
