Sure by Beyon launches bold rebrand and £48m 5G rollout for Isle of Man
Telecoms provider Sure has officially rebranded as Sure by Beyon, unveiling ambitious plans to deliver the Isle of Man’s most advanced mobile network. The announcement, made on 23 October to government and industry leaders in Douglas, marks a major step forward in digital connectivity for the island.
A new identity backed by global tech leadership
Sure’s new brand aligns it with the Beyon Group, a global technology leader known for innovation in digital infrastructure and IT solutions. The rebrand reflects Sure’s evolution and its commitment to delivering world-class connectivity across the Isle of Man, Guernsey, and Jersey.
“We’re a local business with a global reach, and we’re part of something bigger—a group that puts technology at the heart of connecting communities,” said Alistair Beak, Sure Group CEO. “Our ambition is to build the Isle of Man’s best network, which will be a platform for future innovation and ensuring our customers enjoy the benefits of global scale and local care.”
£48m investment to deliver full 5G coverage by 2026
Sure is investing £48 million to build a 100% standalone 5G mobile network on the Isle of Man—nearly a decade ahead of UK operators. This upgrade will dramatically improve speed, reliability, and readiness for next-generation technologies.
We said we would deliver a new £48m mobile network quickly—one that brings 5G, faster speeds and better coverage
“We said we would deliver a new £48m mobile network quickly—one that brings 5G, faster speeds and better coverage—and we are sticking to that promise,” Beak confirmed. “We are making good progress so that we can launch new services in 2026.”
The investment is part of a wider £100 million programme across the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, fully backed by Beyon. Beyon Group CEO Andrew Kvålseth added: “Sure’s sizeable investment programme has the full backing of Beyon; £100m will be spent across the Channel Islands and Isle of Man over five years to build world-class networks that are the backbone of connectivity.”

Ericsson named strategic partner for network delivery
Sure has selected Ericsson as its strategic partner to deliver the next-generation network. The collaboration will deploy Ericsson’s high-performing Radio Access Network (RAN) and core network solutions, ensuring a resilient and secure infrastructure.
“We are excited to announce Ericsson as our partner,” said Beak. “Ericsson brings the scale and expertise needed to accelerate delivery of a future-ready network, enabling critical infrastructure for the islands’ digital future.”
Luca Orsini, Head of Ericsson North Europe, said: “Ericsson is proud to partner with Sure to deliver cutting-edge connectivity that will unlock transformative capabilities for consumers and businesses across the islands.”
What it means for Isle of Man residents
The rollout promises:
- Faster mobile speeds and improved coverage
- Future-ready infrastructure for smart technologies
- Enhanced digital resilience for businesses and communities
As the only operator in Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man committed to full 5G standalone coverage, Sure is setting a new benchmark in mobile innovation.
