Four teams, two places in the Boxing Day final up for grabs, it is of course Railway Cup semi final weekend.
Kicking off at 1pm, Corinthians, Peel, Onchan and Laxey will all be seeking to etch their names onto football’s most impressive trophy.
Starting in Onchan, the might Os will face Corinthians at Ballafletcher looking to put further gloss on what has been an exciting season for the men in yellow and blue (the game has been switched from Nivison Stadium, thanks to Brian Callow for the heads up).
While recent results have seen them drop off the pace in the title race, they were well matched with Corinthians when the sides met in the league so this could go either way, especially if Tom Creer and Andy Asbridge are in top form.
Out west, Peel host Laxey in what is arguably even harder to pick a favourite than in the other semi.
Having started the season slowly, Peel have fought their way back into contention to defend their much coveted league title and with Tommy Brown have arguably the island’s top striker in recent years.
As for Laxey, Johnny Palmer’s side can beat anyone on their day and with Ed Kangah scoring 12 in nine games this season, they have the firepower to hurt Peel.
Even as a betting man, I wouldn’t want to pick who will play the final by the time Santa is putting the reindeer to bed.
Around the Grounds
The other games this weekend see Braddan host Union Mills, Old Boys welcome Ayre and Ramsey making the trip to Foxdale.
In Ardern & Druggan Div2, D&D host second placed Colby while leaders Castletown head to Douglas Royal.
The other games see Pulrose face Governors and Marown host St Georges.
