Isle of Man Samaritans are appealing for new listening volunteers as the charity prepares to hold interviews throughout May for its next intake.
The organisation is encouraging applications from people who are open‑minded, empathetic and discreet, with no previous experience or qualifications required.
Volunteers receive full training and are paired with a mentor when they begin, helping them build confidence in handling sensitive and sometimes difficult conversations.
A drop‑in session will take place on Saturday, April 25, between 2pm and 4pm at Windsor Coffeehouse on Douglas Promenade, for anyone unsure about what the role involves or wanting to learn more before applying.
Volunteers
Listening volunteers support people by phone or online chat, offering a safe, confidential space for anyone who needs to talk.
Across the network, Samaritans volunteers spend more than 900,000 hours each year responding to calls for help.
