Port Erin born driver Nickolas Ellis saw a season‑best podium taken away at Silverstone after a late post‑race penalty dropped him and co‑driver from third to 16th.
Ellis and Gabriel Doyle‑Parfait finished fifth on track in the latest Ligier European Series round on September 12, before initial penalties moved their Trajectus Motorsport Ligier up to third.
But almost three hours later, their car was handed a 163‑second penalty for pitting outside the designated window, leaving them 12th in class.
Ellis had earlier delivered one of his strongest qualifying performances of the season, setting the fourth‑fastest time after improving on every lap of the 3.66‑mile Grand Prix circuit.
A Brief Fight For Top Spot
He started Race 2 from the second row and briefly fought for the lead before handing over the car in fourth after a red‑flag stoppage reduced the race to just 30 minutes of running.
Doyle‑Parfait crossed the line fifth under Safety Car conditions, initially promoted to third before the late penalty overturned the result.
In Race 1, Ellis climbed from 12th to seventh after a determined drive.
19-year-old Ellis hosted guests and partners from the Isle of Man, including his former high school teacher, describing the weekend as “incredibly special” despite the disappointment.
He said he and Doyle‑Parfait “celebrated our success in the moment”, adding that the team will keep pushing for a podium at the final round in Portugal next month.
