New figures released under Freedom of Information show a drop in new pregnancies registered with the island’s midwifery team this year.
The data records 467 bookings in 2026, compared with 668 in 2025, 664 in 2024 and 680 in 2023.
Monthly totals vary, but the overall trend shows lower activity across the year to date.
The FOI response notes that booking numbers reflect appointments made with the midwifery team and may not capture every pathway into maternity care.
