Douglas Council is looking to expand its allotment scheme to allow people in flats and city centre homes to have access to green spaces.
Leader Devon Watson says his motion to the council would allow residents to utilise these areas to grow food, plants or create habitats for animals.
The local authority currently has a waitlist for ratepayers who want an allotment and he hopes this will encourage more people to join it.
Watson says if the idea is approved, a trial would take place first before it is expanded.
Local Democracy Reporter Emma Draper has been speaking to him:
The motion will be debated atthe council’s January meeting.
