Delays to work on Manx Utilities’ West Baldwin Siphon Project mean a road closure will remain in place for longer.
The project is to improve resilience of the raw water supply from the reservoir but the West Baldwin Road remains closed until November 27.
River works are complete and construction of the new chambers is progressing, while the 83-metre reservoir pipe section has been welded ready for installation.
Unmapped underground services and, more recently, a high water table have delayed the programme by about six weeks. The project remains on budget, with completion expected by the end of December.
A Manx Utilities spokesperson said: “West Baldwin Road will remain closed until November 27, followed by traffic lights until 19 December. East Baldwin Road (Ballamodha Road) will also remain closed until 19 December.
“We recognise the disruption caused by the extended works and thank residents and road users for their continued patience.”
