Manx siblings Ella, 13, and Charlie, 11, will join 14 other children from a host of BBC nations and regions to form the 2026 BBC Children in Need Choir, performing a special live medley during the beloved annual appeal show later this month.
The pair were asked to be part of the choir after receiving counselling from Cruse Bereavement Support, a charity funded by BBC Children in Need.
Following the passing of three of their grandparents within weeks of each other in 2021, Ella and Charlie turned to the organisation to help understand and process the grief. They continue to attend the project, which remains an important source of support for the family.
Ella has since developed a passion for musical theatre, while Charlie’s growing love for all things mechanical was inspired by his grandad.
Time to Shine
Speaking after it was confirmed that she would grace the BBC stage, Ella said: “I love singing and performing, so being part of the BBC Children in Need Choir is a really special opportunity.
“I’m excited to perform on such a big stage and share something I love with people watching across the UK.”
Charlie went on to add: “I’m really excited to be part of the BBC Children in Need Choir. It’s going to be amazing performing in front of so many people and being part of a show that helps children and young people like me.”
The choral arrangement and backing track have been produced by renowned vocal coach Mark De-Lisser, alongside Steve Sidwell, with accompaniment from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. There is also an extra special movement planned for this year’s performance.
De-Lisser, who also adopts the role of Choir Master, said: “Every year, this choir reminds me just how extraordinary young people are.
“Bringing together children and young people from projects supported by BBC Children in Need creates something far greater than a performance. Throughout rehearsals, I’ve watched confidence grow, friendships form and individual voices come together to create something truly special.”
You can tune into BBC One and iPlayer from 7pm on November 13 to watch the BBC Children in Need Appeal show and catch Ella and Charlie’s live performance.
