Comments sent to the Department of Infrastructure regarding the plans for 20mph limits across the island will be reviewed.
Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood MHK says she has received a considerable volume of messages both in support of the limits and against.
She says that “on both sides there are some general comments and some that are location specific”.
‘The Important Thing’
Dr Haywood says she has also received correspondence from residents who are dismayed that their road is not included on the current map and are asking for extensions.
She added: “The important thing to state at this juncture is the draft Traffic Regulation Order can be commented upon and those comments will be reviewed in each location to determine what speed limits will be imposed.”

20mph Timeline
The 20mph zone in Port St Mary has already been implemented as a pilot scheme.
The DoI Minister said the Port St Mary trial allowed the DoI to assess the costs of materials and time for installation.
She said: “Which due to their proximity overlap when we consider the roads that span the boundaries. It is envisaged that the relevant signage will be installed over the summer of 2025.”
After that attention will turn to Ramsey and the north, then on to the middle of the island (Peel across to Laxey) and finally to the South.
The programme will run until 2026.
