The Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize IOM 2023 has raised £3782 for Naseem’s Manx Brain Tumour Charity.
The Students Prize is an art competition event held annually to promote art in schools, to recognise the growing wealth of contemporary art talent in the Isle of Man, and to raise funds for a local charity.
Funds raised are made up of the dress down monies collected over the year from the staff at Sovereign Trust (Isle of Man) Limited and also the proceeds from the auction of some of the participating artworks.

The charity
The main aims and objectives of Naseem’s Manx Brain Tumour Charity are to provide support which includes the provision of grants, goods, services or financial loans to persons in the Isle of Man suffering from financial hardship.
Along with providing practical support, including information regarding Brain tumours, and purchasing, or facilitating the purchase of medical equipment for use in the Isle of Man or elsewhere.
It also aims to fund research in the Isle of Man or elsewhere regarding brain tumours and treatment.
Naseem
Naseem attended Ballacloan, Fairfield and Ballakermeen schools and was often performing with the Manx Operatics and other stage productions where she was able to showcase her talents and shine.
This gave her an opportunity to go onto the stage and it was here that she got a real taste for performing in local shows at the Gaiety.
She ventured off to Chester and joined the Hammond School of dance and performing arts. Just before she took poorly, her Mum and Auntie Thea went to Mold in Wales to see her end of year show.
Coming back after that weekend she suddenly took very poorly and Naseem was diagnosed at Walton Neuro Centre in Liverpool with a Gliomablastoma grade 4 multiforme.
During Naseem’s 3 years of illness she faced up to her treatment and was determined to see it through.
Naseem made collections on her 20th and 21st birthdays for Rebecca House and another brain tumour charity called Nicola’s Fund which was for another little girl who passed away with a brain tumour.
On the day she died, October 14th, 2009, her charity Naseem’s Manx Brain Tumour Charity was legally registered.
The charity will continue to support Isle of Man residents suffering from brain tumours to the best of its ability.
