Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums celebrated its fortieth anniversary at the weekend.
His Excellency and Lady Lorimer, accompanied by Colonel and Mrs Owens, Lady Lorimer’s parents, journeyed to the Peel Centenary Centre to celebrate the anniversary.
The evening was filled with the skirl of the pipes and the steady accompaniment of the trusty drums, the audience enjoyed a wide variety of music.
Special guests, Finlay MacDonald and Malcolm Stitt added to the diversity of sounds produced by these amazingly versatile instruments.
Government House said that the evening “culminated in a goose bump inducing performance of ‘Ellan Vannin’, a tune which will forever be associated with this amazing ensemble”.
