Fifty-one islanders under the age of 20 were either prosecuted, cautioned, or received non-court disposals for drug-related crimes during the last year.
The data covers the period from January 1 to December 31, 2024 and was released by DHA Minister Jane Poole-Wilson.
Four individuals under 16 were involved in drug-related offences. Two were prosecuted for possession of a controlled drug. One received a police caution. One was given a non-court disposal.
Forty-seven individuals aged 16 to 19 were involved in drug-related offences. Fourteen were prosecuted. Sixteen received police cautions. Seventeen were given non-court disposals.
The most common offence was possession of a controlled drug, with 11 instances.
Other offences included driving or attempting to drive over the specified drug limit (6 offences), possession with intent to supply (5 offences), and supply or production of controlled drugs (3 offences).
Mrs Poole-Wilson, stated that the data includes cases involving multiple drug offences and other criminal activities, such as theft and criminal damage.
Cases where police took no further action are not included.
The data provides a snapshot of drug-related offences among young people in 2024. Comparative figures from previous years are not included.
