Due to the impact of the weather conditions earlier in the week, the opening of the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races site has been delayed 24 hours.
The site will no longer open to the public as planned on Saturday (May 25), and despite the event’s production team working tirelessly to get the site-build back on schedule, a decision has been made to delay the opening until 9am on Sunday (May 26).
The TT site consists of the TT Grandstand, Paddock, Fan Park and Car Parks.
The public should be aware that it may be necessary for the site to remain closed on Sunday and a final decision will be made on this by 12pm on Saturday.
Damage delays opening
Organisers say that the weather conditions have had a ‘significant impact on the ground conditions and the safety of everyone must remain paramount’.
They appreciate that this news will come as a disappointment to many, especially visiting fans as well as traders who will be impacted by this delay.
On May 22, heavy rain and strong wind brought down marquees at the TT grandstand.
Photos shared in a Facebook group by Nick Stephens show that the weather has resulted in some stands getting repaired.
