Young people will next week get the chance to discover more about careers at Employment and Skills 2026 in the Villa Marina in Douglas.
The event, organised by the Department of Education, Sport and Culture, takes place on November 12.
About 1,400 young people have been invited to talk openly with employers as they find out more about different career options and “learn as you earn” routes, including apprenticeships.
Students from secondary schools, University College Isle of Man and King William’s College will get the opportunity to speak to up to 60 employers from a broad range of sectors.
There will also be information on internships and other ways to gain professional qualifications while working.
Valuable Advice
Education Minister Sarah Maltby said: “Young people can explore pathways that align with their interests and skills, while speaking directly with employers who can offer valuable advice and guidance to help them make informed decisions about their future.”
She added: “This year, we also want to hear from attendees about how we can refresh and improve our events.
“By gathering their feedback on what they would like to see, experience and gain from future events, we hope to shape a more engaging, relevant and valuable programme that better meets their needs and aspirations.”
Public Session
The event is also open to the public from 3pm to 5pm.
Adults thinking about a career change are welcome, as are parents and carers who want to attend with their older children after school.
Hospitality and catering students from UCM will put their learning into practice by cooking for exhibitors. For more information, contact Chloe Dolman at chloedolman@sch.im
