The DoI has finished work on improving a footpath that goes through Douglas Golf Links and connects Kewaigue to various other paths.
It said it received reports that this path was eroding into the river and that the surface was now almost impassable for those with limited mobility.
An in-house team undertook work along the length of the path to repair sections of bank and to roll and compact a new surface.
It said: “The banks have been repaired with stone from the river and we’d like to thank our colleagues at DEFA – Fisheries for their help and support in achieving this, which meant that costs and road miles were kept to a minimum whilst undertaking the works.
“Regular users will have noticed the path was closed for a short period of time, the path has now re-opened and we thank you for your patience while this work was undertaken.”
