Drunk Man Fined

A man has been fined after police found him drunk in a public place.

Joshua Gilardoni, 19, of Douglas, admitted the charge when he appeared at Douglas Courthouse this week.

The court heard that at 1.50am on August 8 police were directed towards Gilardoni by a person who was concerned for his welfare.

Officers said he was clearly drunk and subsequently arrested.

His advocate Paul Glover said his client had been at a funeral and had too much to drink.

Mr Glover said Gilardoni apologised for his behaviour, but noted that the officers had not had to stop him due to any behaviour as such.

Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood accepted this, noting it was only because of concern for his welfare that officers approached Gilardoni.

She fined him £100 ordered him to pay £125 in costs.
