The Manx Development Corporation wants to takeover and develop land currently in the hands of Douglas Council.
Managing director Dane Harrop and non-exec director Dave Peach gave evidence to the Economic Policy Review Committee this week.
During their evidence session, the pair outlined several of the projects the MDC is working on and some it looks to develop in the future.
As well as outlining government owned sites the MDC is looking at, Mr Harrop said the taxpayer owned company is “looking at other potential private sites that may well help bolster out portfolio of work”.
Mr Peach added: “We are in discussions with two councils on the island as well about doing some work with them as well.”
After being asked to clarify by chair Claire Christian (Douglas South), Mr Harrop confirmed Douglas Council was one of the authorities, but he did not name the other.
He added: “We’re looking to seek to have land transferred from them to us so we can continue to work, but these things are in an early stage.”
Lord Street?
Manx.News contacted Douglas Council and the Manx Development Corporation but was unable to confirm anything about the negotiations which are ongoing between the two parties.
However, neither side would deny that the negotiations include the now vacant Lord Street flats.
