Ronaldsway has has made progress against an airport’s regulatory action designed to improve standards.
The Isle of Man Civil Aviation Administration had placed Ronaldsway ‘on notice’ over concerns raised from audits of air traffic services and operations.
After a question from former DoI minister Chris Thomas, Enterprise Minister Tim Johnston confirmed that the (IOM CAA) reduced Ronaldsway’s safety regulatory enforcement status from ‘on notice’ back to ‘special attention’ earlier this year.
He added: “Isle of Man Airport has made good, steady and continued progress against the airport’s regulatory action plan.”
Director
With Airport Director Gary Cobb due to leave us later this year, a new director will need to be appointed for Ronaldsway as its new board prepares for whatever politicians decide its future should be.
Responding to Mr Thomas’ question about the role of the new director, Mr Johnston said: “As a certified aerodrome, Isle of Man Airport has a statutory requirement to appoint an accountable manager, who has the authority for ensuring that all activities can be financed and carried out in accordance with the applicable requirements.
“Isle of Man Airport must seek and obtain IOM CAA prior approval of the proposed appointment.”
