Isle of Man Post Office will release Celtic Corvids, a new stamp collection by renowned local artist Julia Ashby Smyth.
Officially launching on September 30, this collection features six illustrated stamps with original artwork and showcasing the corvid family .
The family consists of ravens, jackdaws, magpies, choughs, rooks, and crows – steeped in Celtic mythology and Manx folklore.

Julia shares: “Corvids are remarkable beings and, growing up next to a rookery, have long held a fascination and familiarity for me.
“Whether it be the tumbling acrobatic Choughs off Bulgham rocks; the purring Ravens above Ballure or the raucous Magpies and problem-solving Hoodies in the garden, I can happily spend hours watching them.
“Coupled with the myths and specific Manx folklore that surround all corvids, beings asked to produce the artwork and research for this issue was a delight.”
Julia is a freelance illustrator living amongst the trees on the edge of a mossy Manx glen.
She has had work commissioned for children’s books, fairy tales and commercial projects such as local alcohol and food brands.
