Commonwealth Games – Glasgow 2026
Team Isle of Man produced a steady run of performances in the morning session at the Tollcross Aquatics Centre, with four swimmers in action across the 200m and 50m freestyle heats. (This is an interim update with more swimmers due to compete)
Kiera Prentice opened the programme in the Women’s 200m Freestyle, taking third in her heat. She said she was “really good… tired obviously, but it was a good swim,” confirming a time of 28.7, just inside her previous PB of 28.8.
Lauren Dennett followed in the same event, finishing fourth in her heat with 2:09.54, a controlled swim that keeps her well‑placed heading into the next phase of competition.
In the Men’s 50m Freestyle, Harry Robinson delivered a strong third‑place finish. He described it as a “decent swim,” noting it was the closest he has been to his PB in “four or five years.” Robinson said the focus now is holding onto the feel of that pace ahead of his next race later in the session. On the wider Games experience, he admitted it’s “very packed… so much going on,” but praised the team environment for keeping him on track.
The highlight of the morning came from Magnus Kelly, who secured second in his heat with a PB of 24.03. He said he was pleased with the swim, even if he “would have liked maybe a tiny bit quicker.” Kelly added that while he enjoyed last night’s 4x100m freestyle final, this first individual Commonwealth Games performance is one he will “definitely remember.” He summed up the Games experience simply: “Loved it… everything from the hotel to racing has been brilliant.”
There is continuing action at the Tollcross Aquatics Centre, with more Isle of Man swimmers still to come today.
