Nearly 900 households were on public‑sector housing waiting lists at the end of March, according to new data released in a written Tynwald answer.
Rushen MHK Juan Watterson asked Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall for the number of applicants on each list across the island’s housing authorities.
The Department reported 899 applicants at the end of March 2026, 689 seeking general‑needs housing and 210 applying for older‑persons accommodation.
Douglas City Council had the largest combined list with 231 households, followed by the DOI Housing Agency (109) and Ramsey (92). For older‑persons housing, Peel & Western District had 62 applicants, Ramsey & Northern District 53, and Southern Sheltered Housing 31.
The figures represent households rather than individuals, meaning applications may cover single people or families.
