MT Breached Obligations

Manx Telecom has been fined £100,000 by the island’s communications regulator.

The Communications and Utilities Regulatory Authority has considered a complaint from from Sure in relation to Manx Telecom’s
treatment of its request for Manx Telecom to facilitate an interconnection request between Sure and BT.

It was alleged that MT was in breach of its regulatory obligations based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, allegations that MT had withdrawn options previously presented without any justification.

It was further alleged that these options were the most efficient and cost- effective options from Sure’s perspective.

CURA found that the “withdrawal of the options for solutions at the two sites where BT has its Points of Presence on the island was not reasonable”.
