The west of the island will welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal tomorrow (October 17).
Princess Anne will visit Peel tomorrow morning for a Thanksgiving Service at Cathedral Isle of Man.
She will then travel to the House of Manannan to view the ‘All at Sea’ exhibition which commemorates the Island’s maritime heritage and the 200th anniversary of the RNLI.
Members of the public are welcome to gather at each location to see Her Royal Highness.
Princess Anne to Visit Cathedral
Her Royal Highness will arrive at Cathedral Isle of Man at 11:35am for the Thanksgiving Service.
As patron of The Cathedral Church of Saint German Peel Development Appeal, Her Royal Highness will unveil an engraved floor stone commemorating the £2 million reordering of the cathedral.
Some 350 invited guests will attend the service and The Princess Royal will meet some of the appeal donors, project architects and engineers who have supported and worked on the restoration.
House of Manannan
At 1:15pm Her Royal Highness will arrive at House of Manannan, where she will be guided through a tour of the ‘All at Sea’ exhibition.
It uncovers some of the tragic events in Manx waters which motivated Manx resident, Sir William Hillary, to establish the national maritime lifesaving institution the RNLI, 200 years ago.
Her Royal Highness will meet representatives from the Isle of Man Government’s Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, from the fishing and farming industries, RNLI, and local businesses and community organisations.
Road Closures for Royal Visit
The following road closure and parking suspensions will be implemented for the visit.
Parking suspensions will be in place in Peel from 6pm this evening, until 3pm tomorrow (October 17) afternoon.
- Atholl Street, Peel, nearside of carriageway (Derby Road bound) outside of 13, 19, and 21 Atholl Street and Peel Methodist Church.
- East Quay, Peel, disabled bays on nearside of carriageway (following one way system), outside of House of Manannan.
From 6am until 3pm tomorrow:
- East Quay, Peel, between the junctions of Station Place, Peel (entrance of one way system outside of House of Manannan), and Road / Car Park at rear of House of Manannan (closed to all vehicle and pedestrians).
