The Police have told parents to respect parking restrictions around schools when picking up and dropping off their kids.
Officers from the east of the island spent the morning at a school and had to move some parents along who chose to ignore the clear signs.
It said: “Parking restrictions outside schools are there to keep you and your children safe. Parking inconsiderately can put people in danger and you also risk being fined. It’s important that motorists follow the Highwaycode
“After monitoring some of our schools for a few days it is clear that the main issue is that people either do not know or choose to ignore the signs and markings or are leaving it late to get to school making them choose to park dangerously.
“Most school entrances and exits have yellow zigzag road markings with the writing ‘School Keep Clear’. They indicate the part of the road where motorists should not wait, stop, or park a vehicle.
“Numerous drivers tried to park on such this morning (even with an officer stood there in a bright jacket) and were waved on a few metres down the road, hardly an inconvenience.”
