An Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK says the pedestrianisation of Market Square, in Castletown, has ‘split’ the town.
It comes after a public meeting was held (28 November) about the commissioners’ decision to close it to vehicles during the winter months as well as in the summer.
Concerns were raised that there hadn’t been any consideration given to residents who have a disability, no public consultation and there being no thought for the traders.
Tim Glover says there’s been a lack of consultation, and communication, between the local authority and the residents.
Richard Ronan, one of the meeting organisers, said the meeting was ‘largely constructive’.
