The Financial Services Authority is warning people not to be duped by a website claiming to be that of a genuine Manx business.
www.conisbk.com has cloned the genuine website of and is claiming to represent Conister Bank Limited.
Potential victims are being asked to transfer funds to a third-party account, with the FSA warning criminals are likely to also hack into their victim’s accounts.
The FSA said: “The Authority has failed to establish any association between the website and any genuine Isle of Man companies or businesses.
“The genuine Conister Bank Limited, a licence holder of the Authority have no connection with the fraudulent website. If you are concerned about who you are dealing with, check legitimate sources of information or the bank’s genuine website, www.conisterbank.co.im
“Under the circumstances, the Authority is concerned that any person who has accessed the website may potentially become the victim of fraud, or it may be an attempt at gaining personal data from the browser in order to steal their identity.”
