Nikki Arthur has finished in third place in the women’s race in the .Montane Winter Spine Race.
Her time of 103 hours 36 minutes 59 seconds puts her 15th overall.
Starting 8am on Sunday morning, Nikki has battled through hellish conditions over five days with wind, ice and snow all to contend with.
After finishing she said: “‘I’m shattered but so delighted to have finished, let alone snuck onto the podium with such a strong field of women.
“I’m overwhelmed. Lucy and Robyn are another level and there’s so many amazing women in the race this year and I feel really lucky to be a part of it.’
When asked by organisers what the biggest challenges were, she pointed to running through the long nights, but was quick to point out that she got a lot of energy from the sunrises and the people you meet along the way.
Nikki passed over Cross Fell in darkness and described it as ‘foggy, crazy windy, snow, ice, it just felt like I was wandering into oblivion, it was right at the limit of what I’m capable of.’
