Manx Care says it is continuing to conducting a review to better control off-island healthcare.
It said that there has been an increase in reliance on off-Island healthcare providers, which is essential in some cases, but may be unnecessary for some patients.
Having announced a suspension of non-urgent off-island care, the arms-length organisation, which has again struggled with its finances this year, says it is continuing work it may result in some care being repatriated to the island, if clinically appropriate.
It said its review is focussing on contractual arrangements with UK providers to ensure off-Island patients are getting the care they need, clinicians reviewing patient lists to explore repatriation possibilities and establishing a central off-island referral transfer team.
As well as trying to put a cap on costs, Manx Care said it wants to “improve your patient experience”.
Earlier today Manx Care confirmed Loganair has been chosen to continue to operate the off-island patient transfer flights.
