No Posties Dedicated to Green Issues

Post Office chair Stu Peters has confirmed it has no employees solely dedicated to environmental matters.

The response came after Arbory, Castletown, and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse inquired about staff roles related to the green agenda in the 2024/25 financial year.

Mr Peters said: “IOMPO has no dedicated roles, or roles that have a material amount of their time regularly allocated to environmental matters.”

He explained that climate-related actions are integrated into broader activities, making it “not possible to provide a full detailed breakdown of internal and external resource costs.”

Mr Peters highlighted areas where climate considerations were factored in, including service enhancements like online postage, procurements such as a tender for solar PV and vehicle charging facilities, fleet strategy, and policy changes.

He added: “For the most part, climate considerations and actions are not completed or costed in isolation, they are part of broader activities or changes with broader financial and qualitative benefits.”
