Cocaine Warning After Rise in Hospital Cases

Public Health Isle of Man has issued an urgent warning following a surge in emergency hospital admissions linked to suspected cocaine use.

A high-potency or contaminated batch is believed to be circulating, causing severe health effects.

Anyone affected has experienced severe and unexpected health effects, including agitation, increased heart rates and chest pain.

The substance may be stronger than usual or mixed with harmful drugs, posing a particular risk to those with underlying health conditions or using other substances.

Residents are advised to avoid cocaine or any unknown substances and be honest with medics about what has been taken if a person ends up being unwell.

Anyone experiencing adverse effects should seek emergency medical help immediately by calling 999 or attending Noble’s Hospital’s Emergency Department.

Support is available through the Drug and Alcohol Team (DAT) at 617889. Emergency services can be reached at 999.
