As we start the eighth (wtaf) month of 2025, we can expect the first weekend of August to be a fairly sunny one.
It’ll be dry with bright or sunny spells today, as the light to moderate northwest wind turns to the south or southwest with highs of 18°C.
Then turning cloudy during the evening before rain and drizzle arrives overnight into Sunday, as the south to southwest wind starts to freshen.
Sunny Before The Blip
Rain and drizzle at first on Sunday (August 3) will soon clear, leaving the rest of the day mostly dry with only isolated showers, as bright or sunny spells develop.
The moderate to fresh southwest wind will fall light and variable later with maximum temperature around 19°C.
Monday (August 4) is where we may experience a slight blip weather-wise in August.
August Blip
There is heavy rain (5-15mm) and strong winds forecast for Monday, however there is a hope that this will clear to sunshine and showers.
The wind will start a S 20-25, quickly veering and increasing S or SW 30-40 with gusts 45-55, soon veering W 20-32 with gusts 35-45 later.
We may even see a weather warning for Monday due to the area of low pressure crossing the British Isles, but at this time it is uncertain with regard to track and depth.
Do expect strong to gale force winds, heavy rain and a possible risk of disruption.

Hopefully with Monday’s sh*t show out the way we can get summer back underway.
On Tuesday (August 5) there will be isolated showers to start, then sunny spells developing.
The wind will have got its act together and calmed down to a W 20-32, soon veering W or NW 15-20.

Leo season is upon us, it was also last week – but August is really when the true Leos come out to play.
During Leo season traits of confidence, creativity, and passion are said to be amplified in everyone.
It’s also worth remembering we are in the depths of a Mercury Retrograde… everything going tits up? Can’t see left for seeing right? It’s not your fault.
It is in fact Mercury’s fault. Panic not, as it’ll be out of our hair by August 10 and normality of only 50% compared to 100% of things going wrong.
