Contested Election Would Give Peel ‘Choice’

Peel Commissioners say a contested election for the board’s vacant seat would mean residents could have a “choice” over who represents them.

The local authority has one empty seat available after Katryna Baptist was voted into the House of Keys in September.

Residents wanting to stand for Peel Commissioners must have their papers submitted by 1pm on November 4.

If more than one person steps forward, then polling will take place on December 3.

Vice-Chair Sharon Lambert hopes that potential candidates understand the time commitments involved in the role.
