An MHK in south of the island is concerned that the condition of a road in an estate in Castletown is unsatisfactory for some residents.
Following a night of heavy rain, the road on River Meadows has once again fallen victim to standing water.
Tim Glover MHK for Arbory, Castletown and Malew has been “battling” to get a resolution to issues in the new housing estate in Castletown for over a year.
Not Satisfactory
Haven Homes confirmed that block paving for Station Court is scheduled for November, with an exact date to be announced.
However, paving for River Meadows is delayed until the final phase resumes, likely early next year, due to factors outside their control.
Mr Glover received response from Haven Homes, which says: “Our paving contractor from the UK has been over to assess the remaining works to the roads and parking area serving Station Court, and they will be laying the block paving sometime in November with an exact date to be confirmed.
“The block paving serving River Meadows will be completed when works resume on the final phase which is currently outside of our control, but I anticipate it will be early next year. Fortunately, due to the topography of the roads in that area rain water is not retained to the same degree as Station Court.”
For The Residents
Mr Glover has thanked Haven Homes for confirming a November completion date for Station Court but has requested a specific start date.
He wants to see River Meadows phase 5 (where homes are completed) should also be paved in November, as it is unrelated to ongoing works in phase 6.
The MHK also raised concerns about rainwater entering gardens and a health and safety risk from a steel plate, emphasizing that these issues make phase 5 a priority.
