The Police have launched their winter vehicle check operation, targeting a seasonal spike in defects and other offences.
Operation Uplift runs from Monday October 27 until Sunday November 16.
A police spokesperson stated, “Unfortunately during the autumn and winter months, we see a spike in vehicles with obvious defects; namely lighting offences.”
Officers will conduct roadside checks with partner agencies to examine vehicles for roadworthiness.
POWDER
The Police urge all drivers to perform regular checks using the POWDERS checklist: Petrol (or fuel), Oil, Water, Damage, Electrics, Rubber (tyres and wipers), and Self (fitness and documents).
“Vehicle checks should be conducted all year round, not just during the autumn/ winter months,” the spokesperson added.
