A key figure in an international organised crime group, which targeted the island’s immigration system through fraudulent visa schemes, has been convicted.
Sagar Joon, 25, pleaded guilty in the Court of General Gaol Delivery to breaching immigration law by conspiring to facilitate unlawful entry into the Isle of Man.
Between March 2022 and June 2023, Joon and his co-conspirators produced counterfeit job offer letters and falsified certificates of entry.
The group operated through a sham company, Destiny Manpower Consultancy, which was used to deceive individuals seeking legitimate work opportunities. Victims were charged up to £25,000 for visas that were based on non-existent employment.

The scheme was uncovered following a tip-off from a member of the public, which triggered a wider investigation by the Isle of Man Immigration Service and the Constabulary.
Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Jane Poole-Wilson said: ‘This conviction sends a clear message: the Isle of Man will not tolerate the abuse of its immigration system.
“We are committed to protecting the integrity of our borders and ensuring that those who seek to exploit others for personal gain are brought to justice.’
Joon is due to be sentenced on November 5. The court will also consider deportation and exclusion orders at that time.

The Treasury, which holds responsibility for the Immigration Service, has stated it continues to strengthen compliance measures and is actively reviewing historical visa applications to identify and prevent further abuse.
Mrs Poole-Wilson added: ‘This case highlights the importance of the collaborative efforts between immigration officers and the Constabulary and our commitment to vigilance and robust enforcement in keeping our island safe.’
