The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says that the situation left by Milan Vets closing its farm services is a “priority” for the department.
It was announced this week that Milan Vets will closing its farm services at the end of the month.
The news has caused a lot of uncertainty and animal welfare concerns from within the farming community.
Although there are two other vets on island that do offer farm services, the concern has been whether they will be able to keep up with the demand.

In a statement to Manx.News, DEFA said: “We understand that this will be of concern to farmers and the wider agricultural community.
“DEFA is actively engaging with veterinary practices and industry representatives to assess the situation and explore potential solutions. Our immediate priority is maintaining animal welfare and ensuring farmers continue to have access to veterinary care for their livestock.
“As discussions are ongoing, we are unable to comment further at this stage. However, this situation is a priority for the Department, and we will provide a further update as soon as possible.”
